Scottish Apprenticeship Week – A week to be Proud of!
From all at the Developing the Young Workforce West Highland (DYW WH) team, we would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved in this years’ Scottish Apprenticeship Week 5th-9th March.
The support from local organisations, the commitment of so many apprentices in attendance, the hard work of school staff and most importantly, the engagement and questions from the young people themselves, ensured the week had richness and diversity in discussion, and in learning, which was a privilege to be part of.
Throughout last week and this week , the DYW WH team travelled the length and breadth of the West Highland area, as events promoting and celebrating Scottish apprenticeships took place in all nine partnership schools. Along with Skills Development Scotland and West Highland College UHI, we worked closely with each school to ensure their event matched their priorities and that local businesses met with the year groups highlighted by each school. The events stemmed from: whole school assemblies to class talks, presentations to inspiring stories shared by the apprentices themselves.
We hope that the week empowered young people to see the possibilities that apprenticeships can offer and assist them in making an informed choice when thinking about their journey into the world of work.
